Aftershoot Norfolk Downtown & Beach – Mario & Meredith | Couples Lifestyle Photography

We had the joy of photographing Mario & Meredith’s wedding a few weeks ago and had them join us again for an aftershoot. Meredith put her wedding dress back on and Mario found a sharp looking suit and we hit the town. Aftershoots allow us to create some more “edgy” shots without having to keep Mario & Meredith pristine for their wedding day. We walked around some alleyways and streets of downtown Norfolk then headed to the beach for a quick romp through the water. Too cool! While these guys had shot with us a few times before, many of our aftershoot couples are first-timers with us wanting our style of photography but having already completed their wedding this is a great option! Here’s a few shots of our afternoon with this fabulous couple:

Doug & Crystal – Botanical Gardens Wedding – Water Table Reception

A day at the Botanical Gardens topped off by an evening at the Water Table was on tap for Doug & Crystal’s wedding day. We had the honor of photographing their wedding and working with some of the finest wedding vendors in the business. Weddings by Michelle had the entire day going like clockwork and the Water Table was looking amazing thanks to the flowers by Isha Foss and the lighting by the always stunning Blue Steel Pro Lighting. The makeup by Rebecca Wood looked fresh all day and night. DJ Rodney Charles from Arch Entertainment kept the party grooving and of course Carolina Cupcakery whipped up a batch of delicious cupcakes for everyone. While the Botanical Gardens offered serenity during the picture perfect day the evening down by the water at Rudee Inlet offered a one of a kind experience by the water for Doug & Crystals family & guests. The night ended with a beautiful evening cruise as the wedding couple left the dock via boat and cruised the peaceful waters of the Atlantic Ocean. We had such a wonderful time interacting with the guests in our photobooth and we look forward to hearing amazing things from Doug & Crystal! Here’s a few shots from the eventful day:

Mary & Turner Aftershoot Norfolk | Couples Photography

Mary and Turner returned for a late afternoon shoot at the Japanese Gardens in downtown Norfolk with us and it was great to get to know them a bit more after we shot their wedding a few weeks ago. Aftershoots are a ton of fun and they have even been called “therapeutic” since it is a separate shoot from their wedding day where the bride & groom can let their hair down so-to-speak. Away from the hustle & bustle of the wedding day our Aftershoots offer our couples a refreshing time where we can do some more creative shooting without the risk of getting the gown a bit dirty on the wedding day! In Mary & Turners case her dress from Maya Couture made it through just fine but some of our bride & grooms end up in the water or rolling around in the beach…..you name it! Mary’s make-up was terrific thanks to the talents of Kim Wadsworth and we even did some studio shooting to show that off. Hotel Roanoke Wedding – Sarah & Aaron

Something very special happened in June at the historic Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke Virginia. It was a day of celebration, a wedding celebration, for Sarah & Aaron. To start the magnificent plan in motion Posh Event Firm began to bring the amazing wedding day fairy tale vision to life. With the flowers from Corsair Floral, linens from BBJ Linen, make up by the one and only Kate (one of our brides!) from Onyx Premiere Hair Studio and an amazing wedding cake from Wildflour Bakery it helped make the wedding day a dream come true. The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch and the sounds of Grooveline set the tone for the evening while the cool voice of Alan Dever (one of our grooms married to the one and only Kate!) entered everyone in. Palm Springs, California, Riviera Hotel – Dustin & Missy’s Couples Shoot!

We winged our way out west to the spectacular Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, California for a shoot and it turned out to be just what my jet lag needed! A fun and somewhat “experimental” shoot using a variety of lighting techniques including, video lights, ambient, off-camera flash, ringlight, and reflectors…that about covers it all. Thanks Dustin & Missy for joining us and getting your groove on for this long distance shoot – you rock!

Wedding Slideshow – Long Island, New York – Ryan & Xavia

Ryan & Xavia have got the whole love thing down – and it shows. A wedding at the amazing Chateau Briand on Long Island provided the perfect showcase for their most perfect day. We also worked in a 3am trip to Times Square where we basically had the whole place to ourselves! After spending all day and into the next with them they didn’t miss a beat. They’re not just talking the talk. They’re walking the walk. They’ve got love and it’s bigger than the Big Apple.

New York City, Times Square – Ryan & Xavia’s Aftershoot

The Big Apple is our backdrop for this shoot with Ryan & Xavia in Times Square, specifically. I would have been tickled to just photograph all the lights and glitz of 42nd street but give me an awesome bride & groom and that just kicks it up a notch! We hit the empty streets of Long Island at 2:30AM for a cruise down to Times Square to capture Broadway’s lights with a few less people in the way. The streets were empty except for a few taxis and New York’s finest so we had the whole place to ourselves. Say it with me now – Awesommmmme….. A big high five to our couple for allowing us to capture them on a shoot of a lifetime! A few pics from our 3am excursion:

Long Island New York Wedding – Ryan & Xavia

I had one of “those” days last week. Not the kind you think though. It was a big “ah-ha” moment when it occurred to me that THIS is why I love my job so. Beautiful people at a killer location that get our photography. Yeah, that’s the ticket! Ryan and Xavia tied the knot at the fabulous Chateau Briand in Long Island, New York. Where was the last time you saw a bride and groom make their entrance THROUGH the floor in a cloud of smoke. So bizzare, yet so totally cool. Our destination weddings are getting better every week and this one certainly sets the bar high for all of you bride & grooms abroad! I challenge you to find a gown to top Xavia’s ostrich feather masterpiece or Ryan’s most suave suit. Total class down to the initials on the cuff links. I have a feeling we will be seeing more of these guys on this her blog – can you say Times Square? I have a vision….
