Aftershoot Norfolk Downtown & Beach – Mario & Meredith | Couples Lifestyle Photography

We had the joy of photographing Mario & Meredith’s wedding a few weeks ago and had them join us again for an aftershoot. Meredith put her wedding dress back on and Mario found a sharp looking suit and we hit the town. Aftershoots allow us to create some more “edgy” shots without having to keep Mario & Meredith pristine for their wedding day. We walked around some alleyways and streets of downtown Norfolk then headed to the beach for a quick romp through the water. Too cool! While these guys had shot with us a few times before, many of our aftershoot couples are first-timers with us wanting our style of photography but having already completed their wedding this is a great option! Here’s a few shots of our afternoon with this fabulous couple:

Wedding Slideshow – Long Island, New York – Ryan & Xavia

Ryan & Xavia have got the whole love thing down – and it shows. A wedding at the amazing Chateau Briand on Long Island provided the perfect showcase for their most perfect day. We also worked in a 3am trip to Times Square where we basically had the whole place to ourselves! After spending all day and into the next with them they didn’t miss a beat. They’re not just talking the talk. They’re walking the walk. They’ve got love and it’s bigger than the Big Apple.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when a new blog must be created. That’s somewhere in the writings of Thomas Jefferson I am sure. Well, that time has come for us as we seek to explore strange new worlds…but I digress. We have finally accepted the fact that our images deserve a much nicer venue to shine and we have decided to take the road less traveled….but I digress again. Our blog comes to us courtesy of Flosites who turned the whole blog idea on it’s head by introducing a horizontal scrolling layout much like an iPhone. So, four score and seven months ago our fore-fathers…er, our old blog set out to showcase our work in a new fashion but alas, has quickly become dated. We hope you enjoy the new layout and enjoy it with your friends because after all, it takes a village. Go ahead jump in and drop us a note if you stumble on an error as we are still populating it with images that will blow your socks clean off….and that can actually be a good thing. So what is this blog all about? It just depends on what the meaning of the word “is”, is. Explore it for yourself and embrace all that is Hayne Photographers Blog.

Sandbridge, Virginia Beach – Mitch & Caitlin Trash the Dress!

What an amazing couple that totally gets photography! They picked a cool location. Wore some fresh duds. Looked like a couple in love. What more could a photographer ask for? Um, how about a roll in the water with waves crashing all around – sure, why not? Mitch & Caitlin were up for just about anything and I am confident I could have put them in a dumpster and they would have figured out a way to make you wish you could be in a dumpster too…. It’s freakish what happened when I pointed a camera at them! Of course, it helps when we have the most perfect sunset and a backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean (secretly I thing the sun and ocean were in on the whole thing – Mitch pulled some strings.) We hung out with them at the Back Bay Nature Preserve where the spiders played nice (they were everywhere!) and the waves put on a nice show. Here’s Mitch & Caitlin and their friends, Ocean & Sun.

Long Island New York Wedding – Ryan & Xavia

I had one of “those” days last week. Not the kind you think though. It was a big “ah-ha” moment when it occurred to me that THIS is why I love my job so. Beautiful people at a killer location that get our photography. Yeah, that’s the ticket! Ryan and Xavia tied the knot at the fabulous Chateau Briand in Long Island, New York. Where was the last time you saw a bride and groom make their entrance THROUGH the floor in a cloud of smoke. So bizzare, yet so totally cool. Our destination weddings are getting better every week and this one certainly sets the bar high for all of you bride & grooms abroad! I challenge you to find a gown to top Xavia’s ostrich feather masterpiece or Ryan’s most suave suit. Total class down to the initials on the cuff links. I have a feeling we will be seeing more of these guys on this her blog – can you say Times Square? I have a vision….

Alaska Workshop – Bride & Groom Photoshoot

Alaska is big and far away. That did not stop us from heading north and putting on our teacher’s hat and hosting one of our No Rules Workshops in Anchorage, Alaska! We had just finished up our Aruba weddings so we criss-crossed our great land and landed at Nordby Photography where they hosted us for a few days of shooting and instructing. A totally different backdrop from our usual beaches and parks gave way to mountains and the great Alaska outback. This will go down as a most unique location with sunset around midnight and mountains and forests that only Alaska could offer. Here’s a few pics of our bride & groom shoot on the rocky coast of Alaska (more to come!) :

Trash the Formal at the Beach!

Off to the beach for another gorgeous shoot with a few of our favorite senior high school gals – but with a twist! Not your normal frolic in the water, instead we left the formal gowns on and dove in head first! Alex, Olivia, and Sarah were real troopers as they did an amazing job looking beautiful while completely trashing their prom dresses. Not easy to do but from the looks of it they were having the time of their lives! The sunset was perfect we came up with a “few” good shots….okay more than a “few”. Here’s some of my fav’s from the sunset photo shoot on the beach with the girls and their prom gowns!

Trash the Formal! Say what?

Yeah, I see all the Moms out there saying that! A dip into the ocean on a gorgeous day….in your formal gown. Call it odd or weird – I call it a ton of fun and I think our models would too! Alex, Ashley, Caroline, Michelle, and Sara did their model thing with the waves crashing around them and we came up with some really unique shots. We provided the gowns and they provided the “glam”. Summer is a great time to do this with the water warm and the sun setting is just the right spot for some killer shots. Thanks to our models for really getting into it and putting their makeup on and promptly getting it all washed off…

Aruba Wedding Pre-Shoot (Jeff & Jing) – Destination Wedding

“One Happy Island”, that’s what they call Aruba. I can see why with so many things to see it is just a phenomenal place to photograph. Aruba really is unique as a Caribbean island with cactus, ruins, Divi trees and white sandy beaches – a combination you will find nowhere else! I would go to Aruba just to photograph the ruins, the crashing waves on the windward side and the white beaches of Eagle Beach. Now, give me a couple of beautiful people and that is just the cherry on top! We joined Jeff & Jing in Aruba for their wedding at the Westin where their wedding was going to be right on Palm Beach. Before their wedding though we headed out to photograph all around the tiny 19 mile island of Aruba. Our first stop was at the Alto Vista Chapel that sits high on a mountain top that gives a tremendous view of the entire island. After photographing there for a bit we headed down the dirt roads toward the rough side of Aruba where the waves constantly pound the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Jeff & Jing were willing to do about anything as we perched them on the edge of cliffs with waves crashing all around them. The Natural Bridge provided a quiet place for a few shots as we continued our 4-wheel drive trek through the outback of Aruba. The Bushiribana Gold Smelter Ruins gave us a great view of the Atlantic and the crumbling rocks of the ruins provided a very unique backdrop. Before we left we made sure to build a wishing rock tower in island tradition. While there was much to see on the windward side of Aruba we raced the sun back to the other side for some shots with the white sand beaches that Aruba is known for. Jeff & Jing were up for a roll in the surf so we kicked off our shoes for an Aruban “trash the dress” shoot! Before we dove in though we made sure to find the famous Divi trees on Eagle Beach for a couple of photographs.

Destination wedding photography can be a real challenge with the travel and logistical issues but people like Jeff & Jing and locations like Aruba make it so worth while. All in all the day of photography was a boatload of fun as we explored Aruba with our good friends and got to know them and the island a whole lot better!
